IDENTIFYING COMPETENCIES AND PROMOTING CREDENTIALS THAT LEAD TO WORK

In the modern economy, students and workers need to understand the knowledge, skills, abilities, behaviors and credentials that lead to career success.

The Common Employability Skills framework provides a first step, laying out the foundational skills that all individuals need for current and future jobs, no matter where they work. The Common IT Employability Skills framework defines the most prominent and in-demand IT skills needed across technology-driven industries.

Building on this foundation, we are now turning our attention to identifying industry-recognized competencies and credentials that have real value for students, workers and employers.

There are a number of industry-recognized credentials that represent the technical or job-specific skills needed for certain industries or occupations. These credentials help students and workers validate their knowledge, skills and abilities – while helping employers find candidates who are poised for success.
